In order to really get good quality traffic to
my websites I had to change my thinking. Since google no longer
updates page rank it seams like Alexa and dmoz are what I needed
to focus on. Since Alexa seams to be taking over I learned i
still had to be picky about what sites I was thinking of using
because some of them had hi higher Alexa ranking and even if I
got a hit from that site, the hit may not have Alexa I stalled
on their browser.
So what I found was I needed to walk away from
some of the traffic exchanges. The first reason was obvious, the
hit only generated a hit, and never a return or interaction
with my site. The second reason was that most of the people
using the traffic exchange didn't have the Alexa bar installed
on their browser.
Looking back I can see now where the time I spent
on marketing through the traffic exchange was actually holding
me back from finding a more cost effective way. Today I barely
use traffic exchanges. What I do now is the reason for this
When I write an article i don't just write to
get traffic. When I write an article about something I actually
feel good about what I write about. You see, what I learned is
that Google loves heartfelt articles. But that's not what I
really use to get traffic to my website. It is however a very
important first step that everyone needs to do when they first
set up a new website.
Hang on a second. Let me ask you, did I loose
you? Stay with me because this will all fall in place and when
it does you'll be well on your way to better traffic.
Okay lets get back to why you are here. How to
get traffic and where to get traffic are important. But when you
make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich don't you need bread? I
thought so. But when you first made your website no one was
savvy enough to tell you that before you build it you need to
prepare the domain name for traffic right? So look what you
have. You have peanut butter and jelly all over the place
instead of on the bread. So because of this your site is not as
polished as it can be and should be, and needs to be.
So how do we fix this mess? Well first off, Im
not cleaning the mess, you are, you made this sandwich now me.
Lol. But here, take this towel and listen to me. Do exactly as I
tell you and before you know it your site will have the moz and
Alexa rankings of a great site.
In order to fix everything we have two
options. The first option which may seem to be the worst option
is actually probably your only option, especially if your
strapped for cash. The second option is more beneficial since it
will provide you with a tool that you can use over and over
Okay, so your first option involves backing up
your site somewhere so you can come back and get it when we
finish these next steps. Next, get ready to type. So open
notepad or word, or even your email. Next pick a topic. It can
be anything. It doesn't have to be related to the name of your
website either. Now, you need to write, and write, and write,
and write as much as you possibly can with great detail about
the topic you selected. When you write, write as if you are
telling a story to someone standing right next to you. You want
to help them understand e very aspect of your topic, forwards
When you have finished, you should have about a
5000 to 10000 word article. Now take the article and make it
your home page. Yep you heard me. Save it as your index.htm file
upload it to replace your previous home page. Don't worry about
adding links to the other pages on your site, and you can leave
all the other sites point to your new home page.
If you don't want to do this first option the
only other alternative you have is to purchase a new domain name
and set it up with an article, like what we just discussed. But
hold on. Before you go running off, don't go and buy a brand new
name. Go buy an aged name. Get something that someone else owned
and let expire.
A great place to get a new name from is http://www.statscrop.com/deleted-domains/.
When you buy one buy one with an Alexa score lower then 5
million. The lower the Alexa score the better. Facebook has an
Alexa score of 1.
When you buy your new name, set up your article
just like I mentioned in the first option. Don't link to
Okay now that you have your article written and
your homepage is your article, we need to get your site
recognized by as many search engines as we can. So its time to
Go to each search engine and simply do a search
for your domain name. Make sure you put in the .com or .net or
whatever it is.
So, now, let me tell you why you did all of this.
Remember the bread? Well the article is the bread for your
domain authority, page authority, and domain trust.
When this page gets spyder or crawled, the words
get counted, reviewed, and analyzed. Once these are done, your
domain is awarded a score between 0 and 100. We are shooting for
a score over 60 at least. Once you have that rating your ready
to put the peanut butter and jelly on. Lol.
If you simply swapped your index page, and dint
buy a new domain name, then save the article as a new page
within your site. Bring back your original index page so your
site looks normal again. At the very bottom of your home page
link to your unique article.
lets edit the article one final time. Don't change any words or
anything. Simply start picking out any one word to become a
keyword that you would like to rank for in search engines. Link
more then one word. Don't just have one word. Have several
different words. Most of the links need to point to your home
Now if you purchased a new name, what you want
to do once you have the score we talked about. You want to do a
301 redirect to your site. The reason is because you are telling
the search engines that you moved the site and all the scores
will now become a part of your original website.
Now that you have a high moz ranking for
domain authority and trust, your keywords will have more worth
and rank higher in the search engines.
